Aesthetic Licensing Requirements

Everything you need to know about obtaining your medspa license and aesthetic professional credentials through the National Medspa Association.

What is an Aesthetic License?

An aesthetic license is a professional credential that authorizes practitioners to legally perform non-invasive aesthetic services including body contouring, skin care treatments, and other non-surgical procedures. Unlike a basic certification, a medspa license provides legal authority to operate and protects both the practitioner and their clients.

The NMSA offers licensing specifically designed for practitioners performing non-invasive aesthetic services — procedures that do not breach the skin or require medical supervision. This includes laser treatments, radiofrequency body contouring, ultrasound cavitation, and lymphatic massage therapies.
